What material is the rotor of squirrel cage asynchronous motor

The material of squirrel cage rotor is mainly copper/aluminum, and the higher the power, the more inclined it is to use copper material. Small motors often use aluminum. Design optimization (such as deep grooves and inclined slots) can balance performance and cost.

What material is the rotor of squirrel cage asynchronous motor
Copper/Aluminum
The material of the rotor of squirrel cage asynchronous motor varies according to the power size and design requirements, as follows:

1. Small motors (below 100kW)
Usually, cast aluminum windings are used. Aluminum casting materials have low cost and light weight, making them suitable for cost sensitive small-scale application scenarios.

2. Medium and large motors (over 100kW)
Use copper strips and copper rings more often. Copper has excellent conductivity, can reduce rotor copper consumption, improve efficiency, and is suitable for high load demand scenarios.

3. Special design requirements
Deep groove rotor: In order to improve starting performance (increase starting torque, reduce current), some designs adopt deep groove structure, but the material type is not specified.
Slot tilt design: The slots of medium and low-power motors are often tilted at a certain angle to optimize torque characteristics.

Summary: The squirrel cage rotor material is mainly copper/aluminum, and the higher the power, the more inclined it is to use copper material. Small motors tend to use aluminum. Design optimization (such as deep grooves and inclined slots) can balance performance and cost.
